So many jobs and nobody wants to work. So why aren’t you working?

I missed out on a great photo a few days ago. No camera and I was driving. And there he was. Standing in the drive-through of a Burger King was a 20 something guy seeking handouts from the drive-through customers. Directly behind him and just to his left was a large red sign with large, white, block letters that read: NOW HIRING! Apply within.

But then I talk to others, and I hear and read about experiences of others seeking employment and keep hearing things like:

  • I need the work but after paying rent, utilities, fuel, auto insurance, etc… I can’t afford to get to work.
  • I’m not working for $8 or $10 or $12 per hour. I can mow lawns for that.
  • I have experience but they won’t pay me for it. They hired a 19 yo kid with no experience to manage instead.

And then my age group, where it’s near impossible to be considered for anything… too old, too experienced… of course we aren’t told this. Instead, it’s just “we hired someone who better fits our needs”.

Sure ya did.

Then there are the business owners who claim they can’t hire anyone. “Nobody wants to work.” I too find this interesting as well. So I decided to go apply for some jobs myself.
