“I’ll Meet You in the Next World, So Don’t Be Late”

Maybe Jimi knew, or was ahead of his time, or an old soul with a sense of humor?

Whatever, that line has stuck in my mind since I first heard it. Believe me, that was a long, long time ago. When my brother Andy would listen to that song, and after hearing that line, he’d shake his head and just say “man that blows me away.” It was like Jimi just knew what was in his future.

And maybe he did. I do believe so.

I’m involved as a member of several groups on Facebook that discuss the afterlife, life between lives, life after death, and so on. One thing these groups share in common are a few self-proclaimed Christians loudly attacking people for not following the Bible, the “true and only word of God”, and for not “having the holy spirit in them”. Some demanding from others in the group proof of an afterlife that doesn’t fit their own belief system.

What I find interesting is that not one person claiming an allegiance to any other religion other than Christianity does this, in any of these groups. Given where we are in this country (USA) regarding the religious far right, Christian Nationalism, I am not surprised. I find it very sad in fact.
